EPCOT Guide: World Showcase, Attractions & Planning Tips

October 5, 2026 By CityPASS

EPCOT® has changed more in recent years than any of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World® Resort. The park is now organized into four neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Showcase. You'll find high-tech thrills like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, 11 international pavilions serving food and traditions from around the globe, and seasonal festivals that refresh the park throughout the year.

Navigating the Four New Neighborhoods of EPCOT

Through a multiyear transformation, Disney divided the front half of the park into three themed neighborhoods, while World Showcase still wraps around the lagoon in back. The biggest shift at EPCOT is how clearly each area now signals its purpose.

World Celebration sits just inside the main entrance, anchored by Spaceship Earth and CommuniCore Hall, a gathering space that hosts character greetings and festival events. Nearby, the Walt the Dreamer statue at Dreamers Point honors the park's founding vision.

World Discovery leans into space and speed with Cosmic Rewind, Test Track, and Mission: SPACE. World Nature slows the pace with Sourin’, The Seas with Nemo & Friends®, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, a walk-through trail where playful streams react to guests.

Past these three areas, World Showcase takes over. Together, the four neighborhoods show how EPCOT pairs forward-looking innovation with heritage from around the world.

Must-Experience Attractions and Modern Thrills

Thrill-seekers should plan their day around three headliners, starting with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This indoor coaster in World Discovery kicks off with a backward launch, and its vehicles rotate to point you toward the action while a classic rock hit plays. The virtual queue has been retired, so you can join the standby line or purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass.

Test Track, right next door, reopened in 2025 with a redesigned story that celebrates vehicle design and the future of mobility. The finale still sends you racing around the outdoor track at highway speeds.

Over in World Nature, Soarin' lifts your seat in front of a giant dome screen for a hang-glider-style flight. As of 2026, the attraction shows Soarin' Across America, a limited-time film celebrating U.S. landscapes for the country's 250th anniversary.

If you have room for one more thrill, Mission: SPACE offers an intense Orange Mission and a gentler Green Mission.

Exploring the World Showcase Pavilions

The World Showcase is a roughly 1.2-mile loop around World Showcase Lagoon with 11 pavilions, each representing a different country through architecture, food, shopping, entertainment, and attractions. Starting at Mexico and circling the lagoon, you'll pass Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Details make each pavilion feel authentic. Many of the Cast Members working there come from the countries represented, and the buildings echo landmarks from home, from Japan's pagoda to the scaled-down Eiffel Tower rising over France.

Food is a major draw. You can grab pastries at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in France, pick up school bread at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe in Norway, or dine under a starry twilight sky at San Angel Inn Restaurante inside Mexico's pyramid. Before finishing your loop, stop at The American Adventure, where Audio-Animatronics figures bring U.S. history to the stage.

Planning Your Visit Around Seasonal Festivals

EPCOT hosts four rotating festivals, each changing the park's decor, menus, and entertainment. All four are included with regular park admission:

  • The International Festival of the Arts opens the year in winter with gallery displays, artful dishes, and Broadway-style performances.
  • Spring brings the International Flower & Garden Festival, when character topiaries and garden displays fill the park.
  • The International Food & Wine Festival, which runs through Nov. 21 in 2026, adds Global Marketplace booths serving small plates and drinks from around the world.
  • The International Festival of the Holidays closes the year with Holiday Kitchens, storytellers sharing seasonal traditions, and the Candlelight Processional.

If festival tasting is a priority, note that the stretch from early summer to late August typically has no festival running.

Family-Friendly Adventures for All Ages

EPCOT works well for multigenerational groups because it offers something for every age without splitting everyone up for long:

  • Remy's Ratatouille Adventure in France shrinks you to the size of a rat for a trackless 3D chase through Gusteau's kitchen. Best of all, it has no height requirement.
  • Frozen Ever After in Norway sails through Arendelle, and its Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff figures received upgraded Audio-Animatronics faces in early 2026.
  • Back in World Celebration, Journey Into Imagination With Figment is a lighthearted ride starring the purple dragon, a park favorite for decades.

Younger kids also love splashing along Journey of Water, while grandparents and teens can find common ground at World Showcase, where everyone can pick a snack and a pavilion to explore.

Pro Tips for a Balanced EPCOT Experience

A balanced EPCOT day means riding the headliners early and saving World Showcase for the afternoon and evening. The front neighborhoods usually open before the pavilions, so head straight to Cosmic Rewind or Test Track when you arrive. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass are sold separately through Disney and can shorten waits for high-demand rides.

By lunchtime, walk over to World Showcase and circle the lagoon at your own pace, using mobile ordering for quick-service meals. If you're staying at a resort served by the Disney Skyliner, the International Gateway entrance between France and the United Kingdom puts you steps from the pavilions. Close out the night with Luminous: The Symphony of Us, the fireworks show over World Showcase Lagoon.

When you're ready to lock in your dates, Orlando CityPASS® tickets help you save on Walt Disney World® Resort theme park tickets, including multiday and Park Hopper® options that make it easy to pair EPCOT with another park. You can also add savings on Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld® Orlando, LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, and Kennedy Space Center to the same order.
