Advice for Visitors

Tips

School field trips are hosted during the weekdays. Please check the Field Trip Forecast on the Museum's Facebook page for an estimate of how many students will be in the building.

To get the full experience, allow about two hours for your visit. If you're short on time, don't miss Big John, the world's largest triceratops skeleton.

You may leave and re-enter on the same day, but everyone in your party must still be wearing the wristbands you’ll get on arrival to be permitted back into the Museum.

GCM may use images or video taken on site for commercial or social media purposes. If you do not want your photo used, please request a “No Photo” sticker at guest services to wear during your visit.

Visitors can access free WiFi throughout the Museum.

Enjoy everything downtown Tampa has to offer by exploring Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park right outside the Museum’s doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Learned valuable lessons We had a remarkable experience. However with that being said we understand your weather is unpredictable at best. However when a person pays for this experience ESPECIALLY with the zoo experience, we arrived at the tail end of a downpour. They allowed us in with smiles on their face. After several minutes zoo staff started appearing can we answer questions you might have. No we’re just enjoying watching. Then all the sudden we started getting herded out like animals no explanation just come up behind us and started walking behind us like we were suspects in a bank robbery talking into their radios. We felt very uncomfortable and then we were informed you need to exit we’re doing a soft close. ??? They shut down and told us we had to leave. We paid for a city pass to be able to enjoy these beautiful exhibits you have and you just completely ruined it. When my husband inquired about allowing us in only to loose that slot on our city pass they were like ohh we will give you a free pass. Ok hello thank you but we leave in 1 day and we’re 800+ miles away. What good is that to us! Like really it was very disappointing. Went to Busch Gardens 1/2 that place was “under renovations” or closed. Although this pass is an extremely excellent buy and I’d probably do it again if I ever came back, I want others to know ahead of time when showing your pass for admission to the locations make sure they are fully open/not going to close down on you and push you out and make you loose your pass. Now the Tropics boat tours sunset celebration cruise was 100% top notch. I would definitely do that again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Went during the week and most of the places within the attraction were closed. The Tampa aquarium was like huge dirty fish tanks. Tampa zoo not completely open. Clearwater aquarium was good. Half of the attractions in Bush Gardens were closed and parking was $40. we were there an hour and a half. If they are not opened fully they should state it on their website. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought the city pass Tampa tickets and they had great options to visit, although it would be better if they could extend the time to visit for at least a month.
